Summary:
This nursery rhyme is actually a fingerplay. The children sing and enact the whole song with their hands. As the song starts, the children hold the hands behind their back and sing, ‘Where’s the Thumbkin?’ Then one by one, they bring both the hands in the front and wiggle their thumbs. And gradually, they hide both their hands. The same goes with the Pointer, Middleman, Ringman and Pinkie. Also, read Three Little Pigs Song.
Once all the fingers are introduced to your little ones, it’s time to introduce all the fingers as one family. So when the lyrics ‘Where’s the family’ comes, the children hold back their hands. Then one by one, they bring both the hands forward and wiggle their hands. After wiggling, they hide both the hands.
A little something for the parents:
Poems should be an integral part of your child’s growing process as they make their lives more colorful and vibrant by adding a variety of rich experience. So, every child should be encouraged to read more and more poems.
